my play space.

I thought you might be interested in seeing where the magic happens, so here's a picture of my little space..note I love Cacti!

Arlan

Arlan is a good friend of mine and he tends to fidget a lot being a drummer n'all! However I did manage to sketch out a drawing of him which will eventually be another painting..here he is so far:

current adventure!

At the moment I've decided to switch from painting from photographs to pursue the avenue of painting from life. In my spare time I like to visit cafe's and wear my big sunglasses to disguise the fact that I am trying to drawing people in their everyday lives. People move alot and I am caring less about imperfections and wrong proportions. And instead focusing on likeness and the colour a person emits. So far I'm having a lot of fun with it and trying not to put myself in a box when it comes to identifying my style. I just want to play! Here's "Bluey" (my first) and the an unfinished portrait of a lady.

portraits

Finished self portrait! yae! This portrait was originally inspired by Alponse Mucha and some photo's I had taken of myself. I really go on this train of painting realistic for a while as I truly admire the works of Lucian Freud. I've also added the original watercolour painting I made.

Spring yae!

Well I've been a naughty blogger by not writing! I had it in mind I was getting a new camera so I could put super-fab photos, however funds are still low so I'll have to make do with what I've got.
Here's some old works of art:

A new year, a new project...

I am beginning to experiment with painting on wooden panel, it's cheaper than canvas and it's producing some interesting results. So far I'm enjoying incorporating the wood grain into the flesh. I wonder what it will look like when its complete...I'll keep you posted.
